Unemployment increases in the Community by people after the Christmas campaign

Unemployment rose last January in the Valencian Community by 6,845 people compared to the previous month, which represents a 1.63% increase, according to data made public by the Ministry of Employment and Social Security.

Regarding the annual variation, unemployment has decreased in the Community by 43,113 people in absolute terms, -9.19%.




In Spain as a whole, the number of unemployed people registered in the Public Employment Services Offices, at the end of January, has increased by 57,257 people in relation to the previous month. In relative values, the increase in unemployment is 1.55%. In this way, registered unemployment has reached 3,760,231.

In January , unemployment fell by 57,247 unemployed compared to the previous month. On the other hand, compared to January 2016, unemployment has been reduced by 390,524 people (-9.41%).

Regarding the hiring of the 1,633,592 contracts registered in January throughout Spain, 159,203 belong to the Valencian Community, of which 15,236 are permanent contracts and 143,967 are temporary.
