Several clues suggest that Google has made a significant change in the way it ranks results. A jolt in these results was first felt in early February across the Atlantic, where the moves were observed and discussed in SEO forums and then in the trade press . These are mostly "black hat" SEOs, not respecting Google's guidelines, which seem to have been affected. To hear some of them, it is their private blog networks (the "PBN" for private blog networks) that no longer work as well.
At least two tools following developments in the French results pages are in any case movements of an unusual magnitude, but rather around February 7 in France. This is the case of SERP.watch Denmark Phone Number and Météorank. On February 7 (column a little more shaded), Meteorank recorded stronger movements than usual on Google meteorank Is this the same update observed a few days ago in the United States? Is it targeting PBNs? Difficult to answer with certainty.
In any case, some of these private blog networks are losing positions , but others are still doing well . Some SEO pros believe this update isn't just limited to PBNs, but may have changed the way Google judges in particular because they generate many artificial links, inbound links — a new Google patent goes some way to that . Mountain View has neither confirmed nor commented on this update. Today, French SEOs wonder if a similar update has not been deployed on Google.
