The sectoral Plan focuses on reinforcing the positive synergies related to the conservation of biodiversity and nature tourism, taking into account the competitive advantage that Spain's biodiversity is the most relevant in the European Union and that the tourism sector is one of the most important in terms of its economic impact on the national accounts of Spain. Biodiversity is one of the main factors that motivate travel, since the variety of well-preserved landscapes and ecosystems acts as a basic attraction of tourist destinations.
This is especially relevant in the case of nature tourism, which is based on the knowledge, enjoyment and contemplation of biological diversity.
