Barcelona is not the only place that is thinking about proposing an 'Amazon tax' , although many are backing out. This is the case of the United Kingdom, which opened a consultation period last January, which for now will come to nothing. Increase rates and taxes on sales made online . One of the realities contemplated in this rethinking of the situation was the growing disadvantageous situation in which traditional businesses found themselves in the face of the unstoppable emergence of a new economy. This fall, the United Kingdom has put the project on hold for now due to its “complexity” and to avoid “unwanted distortions.” The British Government report noted that “some retailers with a physical presence on the high street believe that the sector is being stifled by a much lower tax burden than their digital competitors.

Likewise, in the text “the Government recognizes the value that the main streets and city centers provide, as places to live and work, and to visit. These centers have constantly evolved, and it is not the Executive's will to interfere in the emergence of innovative Jamaica Mobile Number List businesses. But it is important, at the same time, to preserve a response capacity.” In the consultation process, the executive pointed out other proposals of the style at an international level (without mentioning Barcelona). "The potential environmental benefits were pointed out , such as cleaner air or less congested traffic. But, on the other hand, if an online sales tax stimulates purchases in physical commerce, with the demands it has on personal travel, compared to delivery at home, the environmental impact may be the opposite of what was intended," the report defended.

Looking at the future Much of Iger's appeal is that he's someone shareholders and employees can trust to deliver bad news, according to Citi analyst Jason Bazinet. And that may be necessary very often. "If you say, 'We're going to have to stop being profitable in 2024, we're going to miss subscriber goals,' you know there's going to be a lot of criticism from buyers," Bazinet told Business Insider . "And so, you could say to yourself, 'If someone is going to give that bad message, it has to be someone who has a lot of nerve and good will.' So it 's better for Iger to give the bad news instead of Chapek ." But Iger's attitude will not avoid doubts about who will succeed him once his second stage as CEO concludes. The uncertainty "has negative implications on the board's ability to manage a smooth transition, which is one of Iger's key roles," according to analysts at Barclays Research.
